Paris Shopping Tips

shopping-tips Shopping always lightens the mood of many people. Now imagine shopping in the city of light? Amazing right? There are very few places in the world where you can get such a wide collection of designer clothes that vary greatly in price, ranging from luxury only that only the elite in the society can afford and very cheap. The expectations can get really high while anticipating the shopping experience in Paris. However before you get in over your head, the following are some tips to get you grounded and thinking straight. Be prepared There is a saying that preparation time is never wasted time. True, being prepared can save you a great deal of stress in the long run. It is however never a fun process especially if you are not one of those people who love researching on the internet for long periods of time. When you are bound to go out for shopping in Paris however, research is one factor that you cannot run away from. Given the diversity of fashion and style that the city has to offer. There are very many shops all over Paris that you need to be aware of. However, since you cannot look all of them up, you should first decide on the style and fashion that you would want. This will help you narrow down on the types of shops that you should look up on Google maps and print out its map. Bar in mind though that regardless of the length and amount of time that you have on your hands, you will not manage to see everything. Then again, what else do you expect from Paris. Ignore the plans that you have at times Regardless of what you have just read above, you should always leave room to improvise as you go along. Looking back in history, you will notice that some of the best and the most life changing discoveries were made by accident. Be open to change and be flexible. That said, there is a very thin line between being impulsive and adventurous and down-right extravagant. Even while you are out to have fun and explore, have in mind the budget that you have otherwise you will leave Paris early cursing yourself all the way to the airport having on the cute jewelry that you bought. Sales The start of July and January means one thing: sales. As in anywhere else in the world, you will find some really great steals in the city of light during these times. While you can get crazy deals during these times, you should not make a mistake of trying to take advantage of this fact on Sunday. It is the one day that Paris rests. All the stores are closed apart from those on Rue Vieilles du Temple. By all means, you should avoid this street on this day. This is of course you want to witness the real French shopping frenzy (#not a joke). If you ever lay your eyes on a person in the E.R with a stiletto dodged in their forehead, the scene of crime is most likely going to be traced to the Rue Vieilles du Temple, if it was on a Sunday. Hydrate While the prices of food in Paris are affordable, the drinks have the potential to cost to a fortune. When you are about to go out shopping, you should remember to carry with you a soda or a bottle of water before you leave the house. This is so that you do not have to spend insane amount of Euros of your shopping budget to get a bottle of water. If you will have lunch in between your shopping spree, it would be wise if you asked for a glass of water, which is just as good as bottled water, only that it is free, for the most part. Note that this does not mean that you should miss out on a good glass of wine. By all means test the waters for depth. Just ensure that the experience will be well worth the price. It would not make sense to spend a whole 5 Euros on a can of coke while an extra 2 Euros can get you a decent glass of wine. Heck if you are very lucky you can land a John Galliano!
